Xiaomi has invested more than CNY 134 million (~20 million dollars) in China's leading manufacturer of OLEDs, according to a recent survey. The company is Dalian Zhiyun Automation Company which specializes in the manufacture of LCD, OLED and mini LED technology. In return the smartphone manufacturer will receive 15.5 million shares. That is a 5.63 per cent slice of the overall enterprise.

Xiaomi had made an agreement with Tan Yonliang, the executive owner of the Zhiyun company.
The OLED manufacturer is the largest Chinese company producing technology for imaging panels.
It works in close cooperation with producers including BOE, Huaxing, Tianma, Visionox and others.
These are Samsung's competitors in the OLED department, and some of these companies are also at the front of LCD manufacturing for mid-range phones.

Tianma was a remarkable partner for Xiaomi in the Redmi series. Though they are behind the so-called problems of screen retention in the Redmi Note series, their LCDs are not certainly known.
Back to the subject, Zhiyun technologies have become a commodity among Chinese producers.
Recently there is a huge market for LCD screens, after all. As a result of that demand, Zhiyun shares have skyrocketed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange market. The Chinese show manufacturer has also managed to crack the Japanese and Korean companies' domestic scene hegemony.

Analysts currently expect a similar pattern to happen with the company's OLED displays. Surprisingly enough, Zhiyun is the only company that can supply process technology for producing foldable OLED displays. That includes all the equipment for bonding, bending, dispensing, and laminating.

The contract will continue to support Xiaomi in advancing cutting-edge OLED technologies and will also help the company make its entry into the foldable display market.

Huawei is one of the most noteworthy companies that bet on local display producers

Huawei is one of the most famous firms betting on local display producers Huawei is one of the most influential firms in China to rely on local panels. For example, the P40 series relies primarily on domestic BOE panels where Huawei accounts for 40 percent of sales. Of course, this is another move Huawei has taken to reduce its reliance on foreign technologies.

Xiaomi also has Mi Note 10, and Mi 10. The former has a waterfall show with Visionox OLED, and the latter comes with a Huaxing OLED panel.

Xiaomi 's move certainly will further boost the market for local display technology. In the future, we could see more Chinese firms opting for local technologies.
